My father Durbin Yung 榮大本 was from Wuxi where this branch of the Rong (Yung) migrated to about 600 years ago from the north. My mother Tung Chi-Chen 董紀政 was from Suzhou. An uncle, Rong Jingben 榮敬本, wrote a history of the Wuxi Rong Clan called Liangxi Rongshi Jiazushi 梁溪榮氏家族史（1995). My three talented siblings are all accomplished in artistic fields, having inherited our mother's creative genes and nurtured by her love. Our father and mother passed away in 1997 and 2004 respectively.
In November 1983 I met my soulmate, Andrew Miller, a Classics Professor specialising in ancient Greek lyric poetry. Our fates were sealed when I learned that Andrew loved chamber music of Mozart, Schubert, Brahms, etc, and he learned that I was reading Jane Austen's Emma at the time. Finally, after a 30+ years engagement, we were married in 2014.
